Business Facts
Long Island has the 17th largest metropolitan area economy in the nation. Its output of good and services, or gross metropolitan product, was estimated at $126.3 billion in 2004. The size of its economy exceeded that of most U.S. metropolitan areas and many foreign countires.
Each Fall the LIA publishes its award-winning Business Fact Book, written by LIA Chief Economist Dr. Pearl Kamer, which breaks out the Long Island economy in detail.
