Economic Development Programs

The Long Island Association (LIA) acts as both an advocate and information clearinghouse to the region's businesses–connecting companies to the wealth of resources within the LIA and to economic development opportunities available throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties as well as New York State and the Federal government.

Regional Economic Development Council

Kevin S. Law, President, Long Island Association and Stuart Rabinowitz, President, Hofstra University are the co-vice chairs of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council. The Long Island Regional Economic Development Council's vision for long-term economic growth is characterized by increased collaboration among academia, the private and public sectors and labor to protect and grow our advanced manufacturing base while encouraging innovation in the life sciences, information technology, clean energy, defense and homeland security industry clusters.

As the leading business organization on Long Island, the LIA brings Long Island together and tries to get our region to speak with one voice. Last year's establishment of the Long Island Business Collaborative with all the major regional business groups and the Long Island Industrial Development Agency Collaborative brought all the IDAs and economic development agencies together to promote our region and work cooperatively.
