LIA 2011 Annual Awards Gala Success!
Long Island celebrated the 2011 Honorees at the LIA's Annual Awards Gala at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. More than 800 people attended the premier black-tie business and social evening on May 20th.
"It is the LIA's privilege to salute the accomplishments of leaders who understand the relationship between working in a community and giving something back. This year's honorees are a shining example of all that is good about Long Island" said Kevin S. Law, President & Chief Executive Officer of the LIA.
The evening began with awards presented to this year's distinguished group of honorees for their dedication and support of the Long Island community. The LIA Medal of Honor was given to Tom King, President of National Grid US and The Employees of National Grid; The Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award for Community Service went to Newsday and a special Lifetime Achievement Award went to Larry Austin, Chairman & CEO, Austin Travel Corp.
After the awards ceremony, guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner and dancing to Ric Mango and his orchestra. The evening concluded with an upscale raffle including 20 fabulous raffle prizes.
