NYS Lt. Governor and ESDC President Spend the Day on Long Island
NYS Lt. Governor Robert Duffy and recently nominated Empire State Development Corp. President Ken Adams spent the day on Long Island attending a series of three meetings held with LIA President Kevin Law, Long Island business leaders and economic development officials to discuss, and more importantly to listen, to the issues that are affecting the region's growth. The final meeting of the day introduced Lt. Gov. Duffy and President Adams to the recent LIA initiative, Accelerate Long Island.
Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko, SBU President Samuel Stanley, Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz, and representatives from Brookhaven National Lab and North Shore LIJ Hospital explained the project''s goal to increase commercialization of research, promote entrepreneurship, and foster business creation and retention on Long Island. Their visit was capped off with a media briefing at the construction site of Canon USA North American headquarters in Melville to discuss the day''s events.
