LIA Small Business and Sole Prop. Committee Teams Up with Gov. Cuomo
"The LIA Small Business and Sole Proprietor Committee is partnering with Governor Andrew Cuomo in his statewide Small Business Outreach Initiative. This program is designed to help small business owners start and grow their business here. On Long Island, state officials from the departments of State, Labor, Taxation and Finance as well as Empire State Development, State Liquor Authority, and the Workers Compensation Board will conduct comprehensive workshops for our businesses. Some of the topics the seminars will cover include: starting a business and adhering to regulatory timelines; how to obtain and file tax forms; first steps for hiring employees; and how to become certified as an MWBE. Representatives from the agencies will provide opportunities for business owners to speak to them after the main presentation and will direct them to state programs and services.
The Small Business Outreach Initiative will be held on Long Island on Thursday, May 3rd at 8:30am in the Western Suffolk BOCES Conference Center in Wheatley Heights. Information and materials designed to assist small businesses can be found at www.NYOpenforSmallBusiness.com. This is a great opportunity for the LIA''s members to learn more about how to make their small business or sole proprietorship prosper. We look forward to your participation in this collaborative effort of the LIA Small Business and Sole Proprietor Committee and Governor Cuomo.
