Letter opposing the 11.5% increase on businesses in worker comp cases

Dear Superintendent Lawsky,

The Long Island Association (LlA) opposes the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board's request for an increase of up to 11.5% in the amount businesses pay for injured employees in workers' compensation cases. The recent U.S. Chamber ofCommerce report that found New York is in the top 10 states for growth, productivity, and livability is further validation ofthe strides we have made in becoming more business-friendly under Governor Cuomo's Administration. But a double digit hike for workers' compensation claims would be a costly mandate on businesses and a step backward in our efforts to create a thriving business climate.
