By: Tiffany Hansen
On October 22, the LIA Financial Services and Tax Policy Committee hosted a panel of experts who spoke to Committee members and addressed the tax policies of the Presidential candidates and their potential effects on the country, Long Island and businesses. The panel consisted of Carolyn Mazzenga, CPA (Partner-In-Charge of the Long Island Office, Marcum LLP), Lawrence Waldman, CPA (Long Island Partner-In-Charge of Audit Practice Development, EisnerAmper LLP), Tim Mulcahy, CPA (Partner-In-Charge – Tax Practice Group, Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP), and the LIA's Chief Economist, Dr. Pearl Kamer. It was a unique opportunity for members to become better informed about the positions of President Obama and Governor Romney, as well have to opportunity to weigh in with questions, input and recommendations about the Bush-tax cuts, corporate taxes, the payroll tax cut, and Fiscal Cliff.
