Car Free Day on LI

The 1st Annual Car Free Day LI will be coming to Long Island on September 20, 2013!  Car Free Day is an international event celebrated every September in which people are encouraged to get around without cars and instead ride a train, bus or bicycle, carpool, walk or telecommute. Car Free Day is celebrated in over 1,500 cities in 40 countries around the world. Car Free Day LI will be celebrated in different ways with the common goal of taking cars off the road. Using cars less by taking advantage of alternative transportation modes will build awareness of Long Island's transportation options, reduce traffic, conserve energy, reduce harmful emissions, reduce parking problems and save money!

To help your company join in the celebration, a Car Free Day LI Toolkit is available at  The Toolkit includes celebration ideas, flyer, poster, stickers, logo and sample promotional email and intranet copy . You can use these tools to build interest and excitement among your employees and encourage them to pledge at the Car Free Day LI website to be car free or car-lite thatday.   Once they pledge, they'll automatically be entered for a chance to win great prizes!
