The Honorable Shaun Donovan
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
451 7th Street S.W.
Washington, DC 20410

Dear Secretary Donovan:

It was nice meeting with you this past week during your visit to Long Island. As was mentioned to you, we represent several of the leading business, planning and engineering organizations in the Long Island metropolitan area. As our region recovers from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, it is imperative that we identify the top priorities critical to rebuilding our infrastructure stronger and smarter; and furthermore, that they are adequately funded. The enclosed document addresses some investments that we believe are necessary for wastewater treatment facilities; water supply; solid waste; utilities (electric, gas and telecommunications); transportation and transit; and housing.

We appreciate your consideration of our efforts as all of our elected leaders determine how best to fund and how best to allocate the federal assistance that will be made available to our region to help us rebuild. If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.

Respectfully Submitted,

John Cameron, Long Island Regional Planning Council
Mitch Pally, Long Island Builders Institute
Marc Herbst, Long Island Contractors Association
Robert Yaro, Regional Plan Association
