LIA History

When the LIA was founded in 1926, it began as a coalition of business leaders originally named the Long Island Chamber of Commerce focused on attracting businesses to locate on Long Island from New York City. It is still influential today as the region’s leading business advocacy organization, representing employers of all sizes and businesses of all industry sectors, and supporting Long Island’s economy by achieving its legislative agenda on the federal, state, and local levels of government, securing funding and investments to stimulate growth and modernize infrastructure, and fostering business expansion and job creation.
